Babies room

Over the bank holiday weekend, we’ve been doing the babies nursery…..Pretty much all of the big stuff [tables, drawers] is out, it’s just the small stuff that has to be removed now. We’ve bought a couple of IKEA units, which were quite easy to build] and put them in our room, which gve us a little more storage space. It seems strange, but we only wanted to do one room, but we’ve ended up doing the kitchen, nursery and our master bedroom, still it will all be worth it in the end :) Did you go through the same?

We went to a friends yesterday and had a great time, now this is the surprising bit, while driving home bec said something that i thought i would never ever hear “i fancy a macdonalds” talk about nearly choking…..Never the less we went She now feels dirty

21 week scan

We went for out 21 week scan yesterday, and to be honest i was quite over whelmed, bec was watching me and told me that she thought i was going to burst into tears, well she was right, but i over came it

Just seeing the baby on the screen relaxes you, obviously bec can feel the baby moving, so sometimes i feel a little out of it, so when you get to see the little nipper on the screen it warms the cockles

Little bugger wouldn’t look at the screen though so we couldn’t get any decent photos, but the ones we have are fine.

At the weekend we’re moving my computer junk out of the back room ready for it being carpeted and then painting, we’re having to keep the colours neutral as we don’t know [or want to know] the babies sex.

Feeling the baby

I was a little dispondent the other day, bec says “come and feel this”, her mum walked over and said “oh yeah” i went over and felt nothing. Apparently the baby must have been doing somersaults and bec and her mum could feel slight movement, it must not love me :) However a couple of hours later i tried again and OMG i felt the baby move, how awesome

It’s becks 21 week scan next thursday, i’m looking forward to getting a good look at the little ‘un

People have been really nice and started buying us baby rompers, for some reason bec won’t let me get a Star Trek themed one :( It’s wierd looking at rompers, i’m all “how small is the baby going to be” and bec is all “how the hell am i going to get that outa me ;)” hee hee….awww bless.

16 week scan

We went for our 16 week scan the other day, just another scan i thought, to be honest i was bricking it. Bec was, last week, getting flutterings, i’m guessing this is caused by the baby moving around, but for a week she’s not felt a thing. So you get all these thoughts etc and it was a worrying time. However the scan showed that everything was ok babies heart beat was fine and i couldn’t beleive it, i saw the bones developing, a leg bone, then jaw and spine…..WOW :) All in all it was a good day and we’re both releived everything is going ok, 4 more weeks is the 20 week scan which is halfway through the pregnancy.

Poor ole bec, she’s starting to suffer with Siatica [however you spell it :)] and it’s driving her up the wall, however she has been more comfortable now she has maternity clothes.

This weekend we’re starting to tidy up the back bedroom, i’ve sold most of my computer kit and just need now to buy storage boxes so we can move all the other stuff into the garage….then we can decorate and start calling it the nursey…..we’re both excited. I also hope to have scan on the blog soon, keep checking back

Cravings

Although bec is 12 weeks, she doesn’t seem to be having many cravings at the moment, but if there is one thing that she can’t get enough of at the moment it’s “sports mixture” sweets, there a bit like wine gums but nicer. so if you have plans to visit in the next few months, bring sports mix

Pressies

We’re starting to get pressies for marsha, the other day we got a “babies first book” where you can put in the first scan, babies first work, picture etc, it was lovely. Yesterday we had some yellow rubber ducks wicked i think i’ll be playing with them, never mind marsha :) Thanks for the gifts, you know who you are x

People keep asking us, you’re calling the baby marsha? Well no we’re not, but beck and i always had this joke that the baby bump would be called marsha and as my surname is mellors putting them together is funny [assuming you've heard of marshmellows :)] So for you all out there, marsha is just a nick name

Baby Scan #2

Today beckie and i went for the babies 2nd scan, this is to check for potential Down’s Syndrome. To be honest we only really did the test so that if the baby did have it or was likely to have it, we could prepare. The hospital seemed packed but we got to see the midwife pretty quickly which i was happy for. Beck had the scan which did hurt her back a little [i'm sure if the kid did have fingers at this point it would be sticking it's fingers up at us] and we eventually got the results. Apparently for a woman who’s 35 the average risk is 1/315 our results were 1/1659, this was good news for us. We also had a couple of other results one for Edwards Syndrome and i think the other was Patterson Syndrome, 1/25000….All fine. Wow what a relief
